If you were to ask a Mycologist about ants, he/she would tell you that ants are really marvelous organisms. They have their life sorted (literally) which is much more than we can say about our lives, they are incredible workers and amazing diggers. We don’t want to praise ants or something but scientists even think that it is through observation of ants’ social structure and behavior, many of our social problems can be solved.
Regardless of their elegance, ants can cause problems to our daily lives. There are ants which rank quite well on the Schmidt Sting Pain Index. If you are wondering how it relates, then let’s just say one bite of these pesky little buggers is enough to send you into a Shylock-like frenzy. Not to mention, how a social gathering of sorts consisting of ants occurs if sugar or milk or any kind of food is spilled by mistake and left unattended. And while Ant man is a superhero delight, he is limited to Marvel Comics only. So, a nest of ants is especially dangerous and irritating seeing how the slightest disturbance to it can cause the ants to declare an attack. So how do you avoid such unpleasantness in the first place? Well, there are ways- artificial and natural. We are not a big fan of dangerous chemicals that artificial ways tend to apply and if you are like-minded, then this list is definitely for you. Checkout some pest control traps ·Keep Clean. Easier said than done. But a bit of effort in removing dirt, dust and leftover tasty titbits from your house can go a long way in preventing any ants from entering your sanctum and at the same time get you closer to Godliness. ·No Dampness Please. Ants are known to known to enter places where the environment is damp and temperature is relatively low. According to a study conducted by Stanford Researchers, ants try to enter your home during cold and wet conditions. So if you eliminate the unwanted cold and damp conditions from your house, ants are less likely to invade your house. ·Natural Chemicals. 1.Vinegar. Vinegar, especially white vinegar, has a particularly strong smell. Don’t you agree? Well, if you do then you should know that the ants have a similar opinion as well. Ants cannot tolerate this smell. So if you are using some for your exotic cooking and all, it’s probably a good idea to share a bit with the ants too. 2. Cinnamon. Now there’s something we did not known. But a little bit of research does go a long way. And hence, we can conclude that Cinnamon can help you get rid of ants naturally. Just like White Vinegar, ants cannot tolerate the smell of Cinnamon. So if you were to prepare a solution of Cinnamon and Water and say use it strategically like landmines meant for ants, they would keep clear of your house. Just prepare the solution and spray it over the places where you may think ants can nest in your house. That should do the trick. But do be judicious about it. 3. Lemon. Thy sour taste keepeth my face puckered. Not much of a Medieval English. But the fact is true for us. As a matter of fact, seeing the reaction of babies on YouTube is actually cute. But the thing is that Lemons are acidic. Their acid helps deter the ants of the resolve to lay waste to your house. Keep few drops of lemon juice in places where the ants may enter from. 4. Chili Powder. Well not everyone like chili powder. Some are even allergic to it. Apparently, ants are too. Sprinkle chili powder on the threshold and ants most definitely won’t be able to cross it. Have you seen you ants tend to follow each other, well most of that is because of pheromones. Chili powder masks that. 5. Chalk. for writing on boards and hitting inattentive students. This particular object can even help you get rid of your ant problems. We are not really sure how it works but it does. And as long as it’s not dangerous and effective, who really cares, right? Just make sure to periodically draw the lines to keep the ants from crossing your doors or any orifice whatsoever.
